Having displayed an impressive talent in football from his school days, Perriman outperformed many of his peers and was sought after by multiple universities.
At Arabia Mountain High School, Georgia, Perriman (then a junior) achieved 27 catches for 512 yards and six touchdowns. Displaying skill and progression, he capped his senior year with 13 catches for 301 yards and three touchdowns, only playing four games. Accolades and recognition quickly followed, seeing him crowned as the top receiver in DeKalb County during his final year. Perriman’s talents shone during the 2010 DeKalb County Coaches Association Senior All-Star Football Game and the Elite One Performance Football Camp where he won the Most Valuable Player award.
In addition to his football pursuits, Perriman was a recognized figure in youth track & field. Routinely qualifying for USA Track and Field and Junior Olympic events, his sporting talents extended beyond the football field.
Perriman’s love for football took him to the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he played for the UCF Knights. His mastery of the game did not go unnoticed as sports website Rivals.com rated him as a two-star recruit.
Continuing to excel at UCF from 2012 to 2014, Perriman’s standout moment came during UCF’s final conference game of 2014 against the East Carolina Pirates; he scored the game-winning 51-yard touchdown reception that resulted in the Knights sharing the American Athletic Conference Championship.
Through the years, Perriman’s reputation as a standout wide receiver grew, and to better prepare himself for his professional career, he decided to forfeit his senior season and enter the 2015 NFL Draft. By the time he left UCF, he had made 115 receptions, amassed 2,243 yards, and scored 16 touchdowns.
After the NFL draft, Perriman was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the first round with the 26th overall pick.
