Anthony Chesley's Biography

Anthony Chesley, a professional American football player, was born on May 31, 1996. Over the span of his football career, Chesley has built a reputation as a capable and dedicated cornerback. As of present, he is a free agent.

Chesley’s football career can be traced back to his college days at Coastal Carolina, where he competed in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) football games from 2014 to 2018. Excelling in his sport, Chesley left a lasting impression on his coaches and peers alike.

On May 10, 2019, Chesley’s professional football journey started when he signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent, marking the start of his NFL career. However, things took a quick turn on August 31, 2019, when he was waived during the final roster cuts. Despite the setback, Chesley found place in the team’s practice squad a day later. But his tenure with the Bengals was short-lived, as he was ultimately released on October 24, 2019.

Chesley then took his talents to Texas, signing with the Houston Texans’ practice squad on October 29, 2019. He continued to prove his worth, earning a reserve/future contract with the Texans on January 13, 2020. However, history repeated itself during the final roster cuts on September 5, 2020, when Chesley was once again waived. Nevertheless, he returned to the practice squad in two days time.

Chesley was given the opportunity to join the active roster for weeks 14, 15, and 16 games against the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively but returned to the practice squad after each game. After his practice squad contract expired on January 11, 2021, Chesley found himself in search of a team once more.

The Indianapolis Colts offered him a reserve/futures contract on January 12, 2021, but he was again waived on August 31, 2021. In a familiar pattern, Chesley returned to the practice squad the day following his release and was promoted to the active roster on September 29, 2021.

Despite being waived on November 20 and returning to the practice squad after, he managed to secure a reserve/future contract on January 10, 2022, ensuring his place in the team for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, Chesley was waived once again on August 30, 2022.

Chesley was then signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad on September 1, 2022. Later in the season, he was moved up to the active roster on December 14. Unfortunately, a misstep on January 10, 2023, saw Chesley placed on injured reserve due to the aggravation of a hamstring injury he sustained during the season finale against the Atlanta Falcons.

On August 28, 2023, Chesley was waived as part of final roster cuts. Currently, Chesley is an American football cornerback left ungoverned by any specific team, making him a free agent. This short overview of Anthony Chesley’s professional football career just goes to show the volatile, uncertain, yet exciting life of an American football player in the 1990s.
