Scotty Miller's Biography

Scott Thomas Miller was born on July 31, 1997, in Barrington, Illinois. As a native of Illinois, Miller’s passion for football was ignited at Barrington High School where he excelled on the field, graduating in 2015. His athleticism wasn’t just limited to football, however, as he also showcased impressive sprinting stats in track and field, boasting personal bests of 10.48 in the 100M and 21.24 in the 200M. Despite being regarded as a two-star recruit after high school, Miller was steadfast in his drive and ambition, eventually committing to play for the Bowling Green Falcons on November 11, 2014.

At Bowling Green, Miller made a name for himself throughout a prosperous four-year collegiate career. Initially, specializing on special teams, Miller led the squad in kick return yards during his freshman year. However, in his sophomore season, he transitioned into becoming the team’s top receiver, leading the Falcons with 74 catches, 968 yards, and 10 touchdown catches, earning him a spot on the First Team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC).

His success didn’t stop there, however. Over the next two years, Miller continued to dominate the gridiron, leading his team in receptions and yards again and again. In 2017, he was named third team All-MAC, and had a standout performance against Middle Tennessee State University, where he accumulated a season-high 112 yards and a touchdown. The following year, he was recognized as second team All-MAC and once again led the Falcons in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdown catches.

Following a highly successful college career that saw him rise through the Bowling Green ranks and into the Falcon’s record books, Miller entered the 2019 NFL draft. He was selected in the 6th round, 208th overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He showcased his speed at his Pro Day where his 40-yard dash time was clocked between 4.2 and 4.39 seconds.

During Miller’s rookie season, he displayed promising skills and potential. Unfortunately, he suffered a hamstring injury during Week 15 against the Detroit Lions, which led to him being placed on injured reserve on December 17, 2019. Despite this setback, Miller finished the season with sound statistics: 13 catches for 200 yards, one touchdown, and two rushes for 18 yards.

However, it was during the 2020 season that Miller truly embraced his potential. Notably, in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Chargers, he recorded five catches for 83 yards and his first touchdown of the season from his new teammate, Tom Brady. His performance continued to escalate in Week 7 when he recorded his first professional 100-yard game. Miller’s exceptional play contributed to his team’s success, as the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV, gifting Miller his first Super Bowl ring.

In 2021, Miller’s season was interrupted by a turf toe injury, and as a result, he was placed on injured reserve on September 29. He was activated later on November 23 and finished the season playing 15 games for a total of 185 yards.

Miller made major professional moves in the subsequent years, signing with the Atlanta Falcons on March 28, 2023, where he played all 17 games, and then with the Pittsburgh Steelers on May 10, 2024, after signing a one-year contract.

Off the gridiron, Scott Miller is vocal about his Christian faith and enjoys a fulfilling personal life, having tied the knot with his significant other. He was born into a family of three girls, residing as the only brother among his sisters. Today, Miller proudly plays as a professional wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, leaving a lasting impression on both his team and the NFL.
