Vicente Luque (born October 28th, 1991) is an American-Brazilian mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) welterweight division. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and began his MMA career as a professional at just 17 years old by competing for Brazilian promotion Jungle Fight. Since then he has competed for multiple promotions around the world, including Bellator and Legacy Fighting Alliance before signing with UFC in 2017.
In December of 2019, Luque became only the third fighter to finish former interim UFC Welterweight Champion Colby Covington via strikes when they fought at UFC on ESPN 7 in Washington D.C., earning him “Performance of the Night” honors from the promotion. He currently holds a record of 20 wins and seven losses with 14 finishes by either knockout or submission, which makes him one of most dangerous fighters on the roster today.
Luque made his promotional debut against Hayder Hassan at The Ultimate Fighter Latin America 2 Finale back in November 2015 where he earned a unanimous decision victory to kick off what would be an impressive start to his time under contract with UFC. Over the course of four years he went 6-2 inside the octagon with notable wins over Jalin Turner, Niko Price, Bryan Barberena and Derrick Krantz whilst also suffering defeats to Leon Edwards & Sheldon Westcott during that span as well – showcasing how competitive he can be amongst some very tough competition inside this organisation’s famed cage/octagon hybrid set up .
When it comes to skill sets it would take pages upon pages full of text explain all that Luque brings into battle each time takes part within those eight walls but simply put he is no slouch whatsoever when it comes down putting together combinations on both feet & hands along side having extremely slick grappling skills; all leading up towards considerate success so far throughout his professional fighting career which has seen him go 17-6 thus far respectively since turning pro as mentioned earlier ..
Alongside being one half of arguably greatest fight ever witnessed inside Octagon structure after going toe-to-toe against Stephen Thompson during their main event bout last year , Vicente remains busy away from MMA training camps through teaching Jiu Jitsu classes & regularly conducting seminars across Rio De Janeiro whenever possible . This meanwhile often sees him travelling long distances between back home native Brazil and Las Vegas USA making sure always keeping up top shape come ‘fight night’ occasions too .
On whole Vicente Luque stands out amongst current crop modern era Mixed Martial Artists due sheer level skill displayed performances even most hostile environment imaginable ..
