Gerald Meerschaert Bio

Gerald Meerschaert is a professional mixed martial artist and Jiu-Jitsu competitor from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is currently signed to the UFC and competes in the Middleweight division.

Meerschaert began his martial arts career at a young age. He attended Greendale High School where he excelled in wrestling, earning four varsity letters and eventually taking third place in the state tournament his senior year. After graduating high school, he pursued an amateur MMA career beginning with Ring of Fire 36 where he defeated Aaron Neilson by TKO just 25 seconds into round 1. Following this win, Meerschaert continued competing as an amateur until 2012 when he turned professional with Super Fight League 28: India vs USA against Sonum Rangi which resulted in a first round submission victory for Meerschaert via rear naked choke.

From there, it was no looking back for Gerald as went on to compete for numerous promotions including Bellator MMA, Titan FC and RFA before making his UFC debut at The Ultimate Fighter Finale: Johnson vs Gaethje on July 7th 2017 against Ryan Janes who he won by unanimous decision. Since then Meerschaert has gone 4-4 inside the octagon most recently beating Deron Winn by first round KO/TKO at UFC 246 on January 18th 2020 after dropping three consecutive fights prior to that win being two split decisions losses against Trevin Giles and Eric Spicely followed up by losing to Kevin Holland via 3rd round submission due to strikes at UFC Fight Night 155 on July 13th 2019..

Despite so many setbacks throughout his UFC tenure thus far Gerald remains one of the best grapplers in the middleweight division today having earned 11 submissions out of 30 victories overall dating back all the way to 2008 when we started fighting professionally along with winning numerous titles such as 2x Greendale High School Wrestling Champion (2005 & 2006), US Grappling Expert Division No Gi Gold Medalist (2008) North American Grappling Association Heavy Weight State Champion Team Champs Absolute Division Silver Medalist (2009) Midwest Combat Alliance Amateur Middle Weight Title Holder(2010), Gladiators of Cage Fighting All Star Championship Belt Winner (2011).

Outside of MMA Gerald enjoys playing video games while also running occasional road races – something that inspired him due to its simplicity compared to grappling “There’s not too much strategy involved… you just have run fast” said Gerald during an interview shortly after winning a 10K race near Disney World Florida back 2018..

With 8 more bouts scheduled over course next few years meerchsaert sure remain busy fighting but outside octagon will continue focus improving himself personally through video games , running racing while still striving put small amounts time each day towards honing skills Martial Arts Anderson Silva favorite fighter all time even though doesn’t necessarily model himself off style .
