BIOGRAPHY
Dan Ige is an American professional mixed martial artist who has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since 2018. He currently holds an impressive 15-3 record and competes in the featherweight division of UFC. As a lifelong martial artist, Dan Ige has always sought a way to challenge himself and to stay on top of his game.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised on Oahu’s North Shore, Dan was exposed to martial arts at an early age and eventually went on to attend college at Liberty University where he competed as a collegiate wrestler for three years. After college, he tried out for the 2012 Olympics wrestling team but was unsuccessful due to injury. It wasn’t until 2013 that Dan decided to make MMA his career goal when he began training with local coaches in Hawaii before moving back home from Virginia back home with intentions of being mentored by UFC veteran James Kimo Kaopua who runs Elite Training Center located near Waikiki Beach Park.
Dan made his amateur debut in 2014 under X1 World Events’ promotion winning all nine fights before signing an exclusive contract with X-1 World Events after turning professional later that year; going undefeated through nine bouts including victories over notable names such as Anthony Kapono Nansen and Cody Bollinger. In 2017 it was announced that Ige had signed with Legacy Fighting Alliance where he went 5-0 capturing their featherweight title along the way en route to earning a spot into Dana White’s Contender Series Season 1 where he got match up against Charles Cheeks III – resulting him earn himself a place into UFC 238 which took place June 8th 2019 at United Centre Chicago IL US wherein he defeated Mike Santiago via unanimous decision thus gaining him recognition worldwide among MMA fans around world making him officially become part of The Ultimate Fighter family; staying strongest contender within Featherweight Division today!
From there onwards Dan started rising higher through ranks challenging powerful fighters like Edson Barboza Danny Henry Mirsad Bektic Calvin Kattar Jeremy Stephens & Josh Emmett while recently becoming only 4th Hawaiian fighter ever be ranked #15 within official UFC rankings proving unbreakable will never give up spirit behind this talented young man!
