Melquizael Costa, also known as “Mequinho” is a Brazilian professional mixed martial artist fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight division. He was born on November 21, 1996 in Sao Paulo and began training MMA at the age of 14.

His first taste of competition came at the amateur level starting with a few local fights before graduating to larger and more high-profile events such as Tuff N Uff and Jungle Fight. With an impressive 8-1 record in these events, it wasn’t long before Mequinho made his professional debut against Jose Medeiros at CEMA 5: The Big Show back in June 2013. His debut was successful as he won by unanimous decision over his opponent.

Since then, Mequinho has gone onto compile an impressive 19-3 record fighting for various promotions including Bellator MMA, Brave CF and Shooto Brasil were he earned two titles defending them both successfully against tough competition within his weight class. At Brave CF 27: KHK Legacy 1 event held on April 18th 2020 Melquizael Costa claimed victory via armbar submission from fellow welterweight Jaleel Willis which earned him performance of the night honour from UFC President Dana White who soon after announced that Mequinho had signed with UFC for their September event that same year becoming only third Brazilian fighter to ever sign under them heading into 2021 season.

In October 2020 Mequnio made UFC Debut against Journey Newson at UFC Fight Night 181 where he emerged victorious ending fight by unanimous decision once again showcasing why president Dana white called him one of most technically sound fighters out there earning another performance bonus award from president himself this time around being Fight Of The Night Award along with Newson solidifying status even further amongst veterans within organization leaving no doubt about potential star power this young man possesses looking forward into future career inside octagon..

Currently ranked 15th among other featherweights Melquinio showed true grit when stepping up during last minute call out to face off against former title challenger Marlon Vera at UFC 259 held just weeks later back March 6 2021 proving himself once again against much experienced opposition submitting him late second round cementing place atop rankings without hesitation setting course what rest year holds for him despite pandemic trying times will surely be entertaining show watch unfold!
