Mackenzie Dern Bio

Mackenzie Dern is an active UFC mixed martial artist who competes in the women’s strawweight division. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, she began training at her father Wellington “Megaton” Dias’ academy as a child and built an elite grappling résumé before turning to professional MMA in 2016. Dern made her Octagon debut on March 3, 2018. The UFC lists her fighting style as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, her height as 5 feet 4 inches, and Santos Studios as her training base.

Dern’s MMA approach is rooted in taking opponents into grappling exchanges and attacking with a broad submission game, including armbars, rear-naked chokes, kneebars and leg attacks. Her transition from the mats to the cage has also required developing a more disciplined striking and game-planning approach. In 2025, she submitted Amanda Ribas in their rematch, then won the vacant UFC women’s strawweight title over Virna Jandiroba on October 25, 2025.
