BIOGRAPHY

Gillian Robertson is a Canadian mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s women’s flyweight division. She began her career as an amateur fighter in 2015 and made her professional debut in 2017, becoming one of the fastest rising stars on the UFC roster.

Robertson was born on April 10th, 1996, in Niagara Falls, Ontario. She grew up playing sports including hockey and soccer which she credits for cultivating her competitive spirit. At age 17, Robertson started training at Elite Training Centre where she began to take fighting more seriously and developed a love for MMA. In 2015 she competed as an amateur fighter before turning pro two years later when she signed with TKO MMA alongside current UFC fighters Nordine Taleb and Charles Jourdain.

As a professional fighter Robertson quickly established herself as one of Canada’s top prospects having won four out of five fights during her two year tenure with TKO MMA – three via submission due to rear-naked choke holds – earning her recognition among Canadian fight fans for being “The Queen of the Choke Hold” . Her impressive performance earned Robertson a contract with The Ultimate Fighter 26; however after testing positive for marijuana metabolites during pre-fight drug tests Roberts was forced to withdraw from the competition despite pleading that it was from second-hand smoke exposure prior to entering into USADA drug testing protocols resulting from issuing contracts by The Ultimate Fighter franchise.
Roberson made her official return to competing professionally under The UFC banner at UFC Fight Night 151: Iaquinta vs Cowboy where she defeated Sarah Frota via submission due to armbar at 4:43 minutes into round 1 making history as first female bout ever held within Toronto along with being Roberson’s first win inside octagon representing Canada pride! Afterward Roberson continued winning streak defeating Emily Whitmire via unanimous decision followed by solid victory over Talita Bernardo at UFC 240 gaining some more traction within promotion while solidifying status within Women’s Flyweight Division!
Robersons next fight took place against Cortney Casey whom he loss but still managed put up good fight ending even Round 3 whilst showcasing tremendous standup defense throughout contest! Even though outcome wasn’t favorable Robinson still kept pushing forward scoring wins over Polyana Viana & Taila Santos while also signing new multi-fight deal extension w/UFC keeping herself active & relevant amongst peers! Recent success recently earned Robersons title opportunity rematch against newly minted champion Valentina Schevchenko whom highlighted all struggles faced so far showing why is considered best pound4pound female Mixed Martial Artist till this day suffering devastating loss yet only fueling drive further continue pushing onwards towards future successes either under promotion or beyond it !
