BIOGRAPHY

Luana Pinheiro is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and professional fighter who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) strawweight division. Born on October 15, 1995, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil to parents of Portuguese descent, Pinheiro has been competing professionally since 2016. She holds a black belt in both judo and jiu-jitsu and is considered one of the most formidable female fighters in her weight class.

Pinheiro began training judo at the age of six under the tutelage of her father Jorge Lopes da Silva. After mastering her skills there she transitioned to jiu-jitsu when she was 11 years old and quickly rose through the ranks to become a world champion by 17 years old. After winning an Absolute European Jiu Jitsu Championship gold medal at just 18 years old Pinheiro decided that she wanted to pursue MMA fighting professionally as part of her career path.

Pinheiro made her professional MMA debut for Bitetti Combat against Amanda Ribas on April 22nd 2016 where she won via arm triangle choke submission within two minutes into round 1. She went onto win her next four fights before joining up with Invicta Fighting Championships where she faced off against Kailin Curran on December 8th 2018 during Invicta FC 31: Janderson vs Morandin event card which ended with Pinheiro triumphant via unanimous decision victory over Curran after three rounds of grueling fight action went into overtime because none of them were willing to submit or tap out despite taking damage from each other’s strikes and submissions attempts throughout their match-up.

Since then Pinheiro has gone onto become one UFC’s top ranked female contenders with wins over Lisa Spangler during UFC Fight Night 164: Blachowicz vs Jacare 2 held back in November 2019 being among some notable highlights from this stage of career so far; along with another knockout victory that came earlier this year during UFC Fight Night 175: Smith vs Rakic event card last August 2020 when defeated Randa Markos via TKO due technical knockout less than a minute into round 1 – impressive performance given how competitively matched these two opponents had proven themselves up until that momentous point which earned praise from media outlets all across globe while further increasing popularity among fans worldwide simultaneously too!
