Sam Hughes is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He has been a professional MMA fighter since 2012 and is currently signed to the UFC. He began his career as an amateur mixed martial arts competitor in 2006, winning several tournaments and titles before turning pro seven years later.
Hughes was born in Cleveland, Ohio on May 5th 1984. As a child, he was always active and enjoyed participating in sports. At age 18 he started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with local legend Tom Cruise at The Academy of Martial Arts. After two years of intense BJJ training Hughes decided to try out his skills in competition where he won several tournaments before deciding to enter into professional MMA fights.
Since then Sam Hughes has become one of the most promising fighters within the UFC featherweight division with impressive wins over some tough opponents like Andre Fili and Shane Burgos just to name a few. His overall record stands at 14 wins 2 losses with 11 of those victories coming by way of knockout or submission finish which demonstrates his ability both on the feet and on the ground .
Outside of fighting Sam enjoys spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping or hiking up mountains. His passion for physical fitness continues outside of fighting too; often pushing himself past what he thought were his limits during grueling strength & conditioning workouts or running marathons for charity events such as “Run For Your Life” which raises money for cancer research charities around America. On top of that Sam also uses MMA seminars to give back to aspiring fighters looking to take their game to another level while learning from one veteran athlete who knows what it takes compete at a high level against some stiff competition within UFC octagon .
