Elise Reed is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight competitor. Having been in the sport since 2018, she has already established herself as a formidable force in the UFC’s women’s division.
Born on May 18th, 1991 in Coronado, California to military parents, it wasn’t until she was 10-years old that Elise had her first taste of combat sports when she joined a local Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy with her father and brother. After training under various instructors for years, she eventually began competing at the amateur level across several different promotions before turning professional and signing with Invicta FC in 2017.
In just two short years of competing professionally Reed achieved impressive results, compiling an impressive 8-1 record including five wins by submission which earned her a spot on the UFC’s roster where they signed her to compete against top contenders like Sarah Kaufman and Holly Holm respectively. Despite losing both fights via unanimous decisions it still showed promise for what was yet to come from this rising star of the sport.
Reed currently holds a professional MMA record of 9-3 and has won four out of her six outings inside the octagon since making her promotional debut back in 2020. Her most recent victory being against Ketlen Vieira at UFC 261 where she showcased some dominant grappling en route to earning a clear cut unanimous decision victory over one of MMA’s best young prospects at 135 lbs. This win not only earned Reed “Fight Of The Night” honors but also put her name firmly amongst those vying for title contention status within their respective divisions; something that many felt was well deserved given how much progress she has made since joining the promotion two years prior.
Outside of competition Elise is also known for giving back to various charities both through donations as well as volunteering whenever possible – especially so when it comes to aiding youth athletes who are just beginning their own journey into combat sports such as wrestling or jiu-jitsu competitions alike – something that speaks volumes about who this thirty year old competitor truly is away from all things related to fighting itself; namely being someone who deeply cares about those around them regardless if they’re strangers or family members alike which helps further illustrate why so many have grown fondly attached towards this inspiring woman’s story over time now seeing how far they’ve come despite all odds stacked up against them thus far still standing strong today!
