BIOGRAPHY
Jose Aldo is one of the most highly decorated UFC fighters in history. Born on September 9th, 1986, he is an acclaimed Brazilian mixed martial artist who currently competes in the featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He held both the WEC and UFC Featherweight titles at one time between 2009-2015. Aldo has also been ranked as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time by several ranking outlets such as Sherdog, Sports Illustrated and ESPN.
Before joining the UFC, Jose Aldo was a champion in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) where he stayed from 2009 to 2011 and had three successful title defenses before moving up to join his first promotion for which he holds an admirable legacy; winning eight consecutive fights under this banner, seven were championship bouts.
Aldo’s career has featured some notable wins and losses throughout his storied run with multiple promotions over more than a decade of professional fighting experience. One particular win that stands out from many others was when he defeated Urijah Faber via unanimous decision back in 2010 to defend his WEC title for a third time – it would be his final fight in WEC before making his move to UFC later that same year.
Many have considered him among not just one but two weight classes due to being able to compete so successfully against much larger opponents without any significant size disadvantage which speaks volumes about his level of skill set within both divisions; having fought at bantamweight class while competing with Shooto Brazil in 2005-2006 where he earned five wins including three submission victories before moving up into featherweight division shortly afterwards following another impressive streak victory run during 2007-08 period on other local Brazilian events circuit prior getting picked up by now defuncted prestigious North American promotion WEC earlier mentioned which further propelled him towards mainstream recognition culminating with eventual signing deal offered by top promoter globally recognized today – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). In June 2012 Jose Aldo captured featherweight world title after defeating Mark Hominick via TKO strikes/ground & pound technique during their memorable fight taking place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena located Las Vegas NV becoming first ever person ever achieved such feat thus cementing himself into sport’s Hall Fame status alongside other legends like Anderson Silva or Fedor Emelianenko just name few examples given how influential personalities those individuals turned out be over course years since its inception around 1993 time frame respectively speaking terms historical importance factor overall scene development wise speaking…
