Marlon “Chito”Vera

Marlon Andrés Vera Delgado, more popularly known as Chito Vera, is a distinctive figure in the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Born on December 2, 1992, in Chone, Ecuador, Vera is an accomplished professional that continues to make headways in the Bantamweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Hailing from a middle-class family and being the youngest child, Vera’s early years were spent in Chone before settling in the bustling city of Guayaquil. Rambunctious and constantly getting into brawls, Vera’s interest in Brazilian jiu-jitsu emerged at 16. It was then he realized his affinity for combat sports, which would eventually shape his career trajectory.

His professional journey began in February 2012 after several years of amateur training that started in 2011. He rose rapidly in regional promotions across Latin America, reflecting an impressive foil of 6 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie. This exhilarating run earned him a spot in the first-ever edition of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America in 2014, effectively serving as his gateway to the prestigious UFC.

Throughout the reality show, Vera delivered some power-packed performances, including a knockout victory over seasoned fighter Henry Briones and a well-fought bout against Guido Cannetti.
