Sean Strickland is an American professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight division. He has been competing professionally since 2007 and has a record of 22 wins, 3 losses, and 0 draws.
Strickland was born in Valencia, California on August 11th, 1989. He grew up playing baseball before dedicating his life to MMA after graduating high school. Through hard work and dedication he quickly established himself as one of the top fighters in Southern California’s fight scene.
In 2010 he joined Strikeforce where he won four out of five fights over a two year period, including victories over former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Tim Kennedy. His success earned him a contract with the World Series of Fighting (WSOF). After two successful title defenses for WSOF, Strickland signed with the UFC in 2014 where he notched impressive wins against Santiago Ponzinibbio and Alex Garcia before dropping three straight fights against contenders such as Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos and Jack Hermansson which led to his release from the promotion.
After taking some time off to re-establish himself outside of the UFC spotlight Strickland returned at LFA 25: Newell vs Gahadza winning via TKO against Dan Moret while also claiming their Middleweight Championship belt in just under 4 minutes into round 1! After defending his title twice more at LFA 32 & 34 respectively Sean was once again picked up by the UFC signing with them this past January 2018!
Since then “Tarzan” has gone 2-0 inside The Octagon defeating Nordine Taleb via unanimous decision at UFN 127: Werdum vs Volkov followed by another unanimous victory over Geoffrey Neal at UFN 138: Volkan vs Smith last month! Currently sitting undefeated within The Octagon with a total record that stands as 22-3 it looks like we’ll be seeing much more from Sean “Tarzan” Strickland inside The Octagon for years to come!
