Roman Kopylov is a Russian professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s middleweight division. He was born and raised in Moscow, Russia, where he started his MMA career. Roman went on to become one of the most popular fighters in Russia, fighting for several organizations before joining the UFC roster.
Roman’s training began at an early age, as he participated in judo and wrestling when he was just twelve years old. By 18, Roman decided to focus solely on MMA and joined a local gym where he trained under Alexander Pavlenko – a former Olympic wrestler from Kazakhstan. Under Pavlenko’s guidance, Roman developed his grappling skills which would later become one of his greatest strengths inside the octagon.
He made his professional debut against Sergei Evlampiev back in 2008 and went on to compile an impressive record of 15 wins with only 2 losses over 8 years as a fighter competing mainly for Fight Nights Global (FNG). When FNG disbanded after its last event in 2016, so did Roman’s streak of 5 consecutive wins leading up to that point; however it didn’t go unnoticed by UFC scouts who signed him soon afterwards.
Romans first fight with UFC came against Markus Perez at UFC Fight Night: Aleksei Oleinik vs Mark Hunt event held at Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Moscow back 2018 and ended via submission due to arm-triangle choke during round 3; thus giving him much needed recognition on international stage as well as earning himself Performance of The Night bonus award from UFC itself. It set Roman up nicely for rest of fights scheduled with them since then; though losses against Gerald Meerschaert (arm-triangle choke) & Makhmud Muradov (unanimous decision) were followed by two consecutive victories — both via TKO stoppage — over Dricus Du Plessis & Maxim Grishin respectively earning him yet another Performance Of The Night bonus award last year amidst other accolades received during time spent within organization thus far such as Breakthrough Fighter Of The Year 2020 nomination amongst few others..
Overall while providing fans memorable moments inside cage so far with some great showings overall despite suffering those two recent defeats ,Roman Kopylov has already established himself quite well amongst top names within middleweight bracket alike alongside being successful ambassador for sport across various countries proving that talent found out there is real deal no matter region or background you come from .
