Punahele Soriano is a professional mixed martial artist from Hawaii who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He began training in MMA at the age of 14, and made his professional debut just two years later. Since then he has gone on to establish himself as one of the top fighters in the sport with an impressive 11-0 record.
Soriano grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii where he was raised by a single mother. His father was incarcerated during much of his childhood and this pushed him to pursue martial arts as an outlet for his emotions. He started out with Muay Thai but soon moved to jiu-jitsu when he found success competing as a blue belt competitor on the American circuit. After several successful amateur fights, Soriano decided to turn pro at just 16 years old.
He quickly rose through the ranks fighting for various promotions across Hawaii and winning multiple titles along the way including King Of The Cage Pacific & Hawaiian Middleweight Champion and VIP Fight Night Flyweight Champion. In 2020 Soriano signed with UFC after putting together an impressive 11-0 record and catching their attention with some spectacular knockouts.
Since making his debut against Oskar Piechota at UFC 253 last September, Soriano has continued to impress both fans and critics alike with three wins thus far; two via knockout, one via submission – all within 13 months! His most memorable performance came against Dusko Todorovic at UFC Fight Island 8 earlier this year which ultimately earned him ‘Performance Of The Night’ honors from Dana White who called it “the best fight I’ve seen so far this year” .
Despite being relatively new to UFC’s roster, Punahele has already shown that he belongs among some of its biggest stars including Israel Adesanya who recently praised him saying “He’s gonna be a big deal”. With such high praise coming from such esteemed figures within MMA, it is clear that Punahele will only continue rise as one of brightest stars in combat sports today – whether it be inside or outside of cage!
