Jan Blachowicz is a Polish professional mixed martial artist who currently competes in the light heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He was born in Cieszyn, Poland on February 24th 1983 and started his martial arts training at a young age. He then began kickboxing when he was 16 and soon earned himself a black belt in taekwondo.
Blachowicz first ventured into MMA with KSW, an organization based out of Poland. After winning several fights for them, he eventually moved up to M-1 Global where he achieved success before signing with UFC. During this time period, Blachowicz also competed under ROAD FC and DREAM organizations as well as multiple other promotions all over Europe.
Since joining UFC in 2014 at the age of 31, Blachowicz has become one of their most successful fighters as evident by his current record which stands at 26 wins (12 via knockout), 8 losses and 1 no contest. With five Performance of the Night bonuses to his name so far, Jan’s career highlight includes becoming interim Light Heavyweight Champion after defeating Dominick Reyes back in 2020; although that title had been made vacant due to Jon Jones’ departure from the 205 lbs division earlier that year.
Throughout his career so far – spanning more than 15 years – Blachowicz has trained under numerous coaches while keeping active through both online education programs such as ‘MMA Strength & Conditioning’ as well other traditional gym workouts and sparring sessions with some of the biggest names in MMA today including Thiago Santos or Alexander Gustafsson among others; all designed to help him stay sharp for competition day every time out there inside cage or octagon.
Outside fighting Jan is an avid supporter charity causes such Make A Wish Foundation which raises money for children suffering from life-threatening medical conditions; something very close to home having lost his own father due cancer when Jan was just 12 years old himself… His story alone serves an inspiration for us all proving how hard work can turn dreams into reality no matter how difficult things might look like sometimes!
