Carlos “Black Jag”Ulberg

Carlos Ulberg is a New Zealand mixed martial artist from Auckland who competes in the UFC light heavyweight division. Known as “Black Jag,” he trains at City Kickboxing and is listed by the UFC as an active athlete and the UFC light heavyweight title holder as of September 14, 2026. Ulberg stands 6 feet 4 inches tall with a 77-inch reach, and his listed fighting style is kickboxing.

Before focusing on MMA, Ulberg built a combat-sports background in kickboxing, including King in the Ring tournament titles at heavyweight in 2017 and cruiserweight in 2019. He earned a UFC contract after a first-round knockout on Dana White’s Contender Series in November 2020, then made his Octagon debut against Kennedy Nzechukwu at UFC 259 on March 6, 2021. His game is built around composed distance striking, feints and efficient use of his length, while later UFC performances have also shown that he can pursue submissions when opportunities arise.

Ulberg’s title breakthrough came at UFC 327 in Miami on April 11, 2026, when he defeated Jiří Procházka by first-round knockout to claim the vacant UFC light heavyweight championship. That result followed notable victories over Jan Błachowicz and Dominick Reyes, and established Ulberg as one of the leading products of Auckland’s City Kickboxing team.
