Glover Teixeira is a Brazilian mixed martial artist and current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight contender. He has fought in the UFC since 2012, and has been on a winning streak since then. Born on October 28, 1979, in Sobrália, Minas Gerais, Brazil he began his training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu before eventually transitioning to mixed martial arts (MMA).

Teixeira started his professional MMA career in 2002 when he made his debut at PRIDE 29: High Octane. After going unbeaten for five years while competing mostly with Shooto and Bitetti Combat, Teixeira made his UFC debut against Kyle Kingsbury at UFC 146 in May of 2012. In this fight Teixeira quickly finished Kingsbury with a guillotine choke submission just 1 minute 4 seconds into the opening round. This was to be the start of an impressive run that saw him win 17 out of 18 fights from 2011 until 2018.

During this time period not only did Teixeira amass an impressive record but also some very important victories over notable names such as Ryan Bader(2013), Quinton Jackson(2014), Ovince Saint Preux(2015), Jared Cannonier (2020). During this periods it seemed like Glover was getting closer and closer to reaching a title shot during which point many would call him “the best light heavyweight fighter without a belt” However due to two back-to-back losses against Anthony Smith (2019)and Thiago Santos (2020)his momentum was halted late 2019 early 2020 . Despite being currently unranked by the UFC , Glover still remains one of the most dangerous fighters at 205 lbs as well as one of fan favorites due largely tohis aggressive stand up style coupled with solid ground game as demonstrated during fan favorite wars such as those against Shogun Rua or Rashad Evans .

In addition to being known for fighting inside octagon , Glover is also respected by many for being an outstanding teammate who often help fighters from other teams preparing them for their upcoming fights . His commitment dedication and respect have earned him awards suchas The Most Inspirational Award given annually by Chute Box Academy where Glover used train periodically when visiting Brazil between competitions abroad . As if all that wasn’t enough , outside cage ,like any good brazilian Glove is passionate about soccer often helps coach local kids team whenever gets chance too do so demonstrating yet again why after 15 year career he still remain one most beloved figures MMA community world wide .
