Ciryl Gane Bio

Ciryl Gane is a French mixed martial artist who competes in the UFC heavyweight division. Born April 12, 1990, in La Roche-sur-Yon, France, he stands 6 feet 4 inches tall and is known by the nickname “Bon Gamin.” As of September 11, 2026, the UFC lists Gane as active, training at MMA Factory in Paris and holding the interim UFC heavyweight title.

Gane brought a Muay Thai and kickboxing background into professional MMA in 2018. Before entering the UFC, he captured the TKO heavyweight championship in his first appearance for the Canadian promotion and defended it twice. He made his UFC debut against Raphael Pessoa on August 10, 2019, beginning a rapid rise through the heavyweight division.

Gane first won the interim UFC heavyweight championship by stopping Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 on August 7, 2021, becoming the first native of France to capture a UFC title. He later challenged Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones in undisputed-title bouts. After his October 25, 2025 championship contest with Tom Aspinall ended as a no contest because of an accidental eye poke, Gane stopped Alex Pereira on June 14, 2026, to claim the interim heavyweight championship for a second time. His style is built around agile movement, measured distance control and a varied kicking attack that is unusual for a heavyweight.
