BIOGRAPHY
Tyus Jones is a professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on May 10th, 1996 and grew up in Apple Valley, Minnesota. He attended Apple Valley High School where he was named a McDonald’s All-American and earned Minnesota’s Mr. Basketball award following his senior year.
Jones then went on to play college basketball for Duke University, where he won an NCAA Championship with his team after his freshman year. During this time, Jones also earned numerous awards including ACC Tournament MVP and Second Team All-ACC honors. After two successful years at Duke, Jones declared for the 2015 NBA Draft but withdrew from it before teams could select him and returned to school for one more season.
In June of 2016, Jones officially declared for the draft again and was selected 24th overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers who then traded him to the Minnesota Timberwolves shortly after he was drafted. In 2017-2018 season Tyus started 73 games as point guard with Wolves averaging 10 points per game 4 assists per game while shooting 39% from 3 point range helping lead them into playoffs that season until they were eventually eliminated in 5 games against Houston Rockets during first round of playoffs . Following 2018–2019 season Tyus re-signed with Timberwolves but upon arrival of new head coach Ryan Saunders he saw decreased playing time going into 2019–2020 being pushed out from starting lineup completely . Wolves front office accepted offer from Memphis Grizzlies trading away Tyus along with James Johnson . Upon arriving to Memphis Tyus emerged as Grizzlies main offensive threat coming off bench averaging 13 points 5 assists shooting 40 % 3 pt field goal percentage all while leading their second unit throughout whole season playing alongside Ja Morant leading Grizzlies back into playoffs once again before being eliminated in 5 games against Portland Trail Blazers . During restarted 2020 playoff bubble held at Walt Disney World Resort Tyus showed everybody nationwide what type of player he is topping 20 plus points mark twice including making series clinching shot over Damian Lillard ending Blazers hopes to advance further into postseason despite winning one game against Grizzles earlier that series due both Ja Morant injury along with other players like Jaren Jackson Jr suffering injuries during Game 6 which forced them out ending their playoff run early without full roster available due health protocols put in place by league officials during pandemic times .. Now moving forward , entering 2021 offseason after recently signing veteran contract extension worth $29 million across three seasons , it will be interesting how will new look Grizzlies team perform now having mix between young players such as Gorman / Tillman combined core veterans like Kyle Anderson/Dillon Brooks / Jonas Valaciunas/Tyreke Evans … But no matter how upcoming 2021–2022 regular season may turn out we can expect steady reliable performance every night from grizzlies starting floor general TYUS JONES
