Josh Okogie is a professional basketball player who currently plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves of the NBA. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria on September 1, 1997 and moved to Snellville, Georgia when he was four years old. Growing up he had a passion for basketball and dreamt of one day playing in the NBA. After being homeschooled through high school Josh went on to play college basketball at Georgia Tech where he quickly became known as an aggressive defender with a knack for scoring points.
As his college career began winding down Okogie declared himself eligible for the 2018 NBA draft where he was drafted 20th overall by Minnesota Timberwolves. In his rookie season he earned starting minutes as well as All-Rookie Second Team honors for his efforts averaging 8 points per game along with 2 rebounds and 1 steal per game during that season.
Going into 2019-20 season Josh continued to show steady improvement and growth earning himself more minutes off bench averaging 11 PPG, 3RPG & 1 SPG before eventually becoming starter again due to injuries around him halfway through season increasing those averages to 14 PPG , 4 RPG & 1 SPG . Along with these stats were two particular games shining lights on what kind of potential star this young man could be becoming; first back-to-back 20+ point performances against Nuggets (23p) & Grizzlies (26p).
In 2020 offseason Josh signed deal keeping him in Minnesota through 2021–22 Season showing commitment from both sides moving forward! This kid definitely has talent but also hard work ethic which makes bright future ahead very possible if continues developing way we all believe will happen! It’s time people start recognizing name ‘Josh Okogie’ around league because you know it’s coming soon enough….
