Saben Lee Bio
Saben Lee is a professional basketball player currently playing for the NBA Development League team, the Memphis Hustle. He was born in Portland, Oregon on February 22nd in 1998 to parents Aaron and Stephanie Lee. His father was a former college basketball player at Lewis & Clark College and his mother an accountant. Growing up Saben had three brothers who also played basketball competitively with him leading to some intense sibling rivalries – but they would always come together when it mattered most.
As a young boy Saben was always driven by the competitiveness of the game of basketball and dreamed one day he could make it professionally. During his high school years he attended Franklin High School where he starred as point guard for their varsity team. As one of the top recruits in Portland, over 30 colleges made offers for him to attend their respective programs before settling on Vanderbilt University in Nashville Tennessee to further his schooling and play collegiate ball under head coach Bryce Drew.
In his freshman season at Vanderbilt (2016-17) Saben quickly established himself as an integral part of Coach Drew’s system averaging 12 points per game while starting all 33 games that year which lead them into post-season play against Northwestern ending with them losing 62-66 due to bad officiating according the coach and players alike adding onto another heartbreaking end to their season potential NCAA tournament berth lost due that call along with 2 missed shots from behind arc.. But despite this rough start, throughout sophomore year (2017-18) ,Saben averaged 16 points per game becoming more aggressive driving towards rim/floater area finding easy buckets there while shooting 38% from downtown showing growth in overall efficiency helping push Vandy back into post-season contention within SEC conference making NIT run falling short loss versus TCU 81–73 thus ending promising season . Furthermore going into junior campaign (2018-19), Saben declared himself ready NBA draft but eventually withdrew name returning senior year pushing Vandy even further success winning multiple share conference titles finishing second place SEC beating Arkansas 72–64 solidifying program best record since 2009 qualifying NCAA tournament defeating Mississippi State 70–59 advancing sweet sixteen succumbing Auburn 97–83 giving much fanfare student body support ultimately capping off illustrious career there .
Shortly after graduating valedictorian honors from Vanderbilt with degree sociology ,Saben went undrafted 2020NBA draft signing free agent deal Memphis Grizzlies organization grinding out through summer league playing five games totaling twenty minutes registering three points four assists two rebounds thus gaining interest G League affiliate Hustle joining squad shortly thereafter looking build upon successful career collegiate level potentially moving parent club down line time .
