Mason Alexander Plumlee is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born on March 5, 1990 in Warsaw, Indiana and is one of three brothers to have excelled at basketball. Mason’s older brother Miles Plumlee currently plays for Detroit Pistons. His twin brother Marshall played college basketball at Duke University before being drafted 8th overall by Milwaukee Bucks in 2013 and now plays professionally overseas.
Mason attended Christ School in Arden, North Carolina where he broke the single-season dunk record as a senior. During his senior year he had averages of 14 points per game, 11 rebounds per game and 2 blocks per game while leading his team to a state championship title. Before attending Duke University he was ranked as one of top 15 players nationally according to Rivals.com and Scout Hoop Scoop respectively.
At Duke University Mason instantly made an impact during his freshman season averaging 7 points and 6 rebounds per game while helping lead Duke Blue Devils to an ACC Championship title with Tyler Thorburn as co-captain . In 2012 Mason earned ACC All-Tournament Team honors after leading Blue Devils over NC State Wolfpack 79 -57 win with 21 points, 10 rebounds performance . He was also named Academic All-ACC that same year after receiving 3 semester Dean list recognition prior for maintaining 3+ GPA annually .
In 2013 Plumlee declared himself eligible for NBA draft following 4 successful years at Duke playing alongside other future NBA stars like Austin Rivers Kyle Singler , Ryan Kelly Nolan Smith among others . He was picked 22nd overall by Brooklyn Nets which led him start professional career there in 2013 playing alongside veterans like Joe Johnson Paul Pierce Kevin Garnett Deron Williams Brook Lopez etc.. At Brooklyn Nets masonry averaged 5 point 4 rebound 1 assist 0 block 0 steal 17 minutes appearing play 80 games 2014 season along missing handful due injury hip flexor late season ..
