BIOGRAPHY

Justin Gaethje is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the Lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Born on November 14, 1988, he was raised in Safford, Arizona and attended the University of Northern Colorado where he wrestled from 2008-2011. In 2011, Gaethje turned his attention to mixed martial arts and made his professional debut in 2012.

Gaethje quickly rose through the local mixed martial arts circuit with a series of highlight-reel stoppages that earned him recognition as one of the best strikers in the sport. In 2017 he signed a deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and made his promotional debut at The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale in July of 2017. Since then, Gaethje has gone 3-2, compiling a record of 22-2 overall with 19 wins by stoppage.

Gaethje is renowned for his aggressive style which often leads to thrilling battles between himself and his opponents. His fights are often featured as main events due to their entertaining nature. In 2018, Gaethje fought Eddie Alvarez at UFC 218 where he won by TKO in the third round, earning him “Fight of the Night” honors along with “Performance of the Night” awards in four other UFC bouts. He also holds notable wins over James Vick, Edson Barboza and Donald Cerrone among others.

Away from fighting Justin Gaethje is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys camping and fishing whenever possible. He also has a passion for coaching youth wrestling where he helps aspiring wrestlers reach their goals by cultivating teamwork and sportsmanship in a safe environment.
