Rafael Fiziev is a professional mixed martial artist who fights in the lightweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, Fiziev began training in combat sports at an early age. He developed his skills by learning karate, boxing and Muay Thai under various coaches and competed in amateur bouts throughout Europe before making his professional debut in 2012.
Since then, he has built a reputation as one of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster. In 2018 he signed with Brave Combat Federation and earned title contention after defeating three top-ranked opponents within four months. This culminated with him winning Brave CF’s inaugural lightweight championship belt via first-round knockout against Lucas Martins at Brave CF 23: Saudi Arabia. His impressive run also caught the attention of Dana White, President of UFC who offered him a contract shortly afterwards for his promotional debut at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale taking place later that year where he knocked out fellow prospect Marc Diakiese to earn himself ‘Performance of The Night’ honors.
After this impressive start to his career he continued to rack up wins while furthering developing his unique style which blended elements from kickboxing, karate and sambo – earning him two additional ‘Performance Of The Night’ awards over 2019/2020 along with being named amongst Fighters Only Magazine’s ‘Top Prospects’ list for both weight classes (lightweight/ featherweight). He also recently made history as part of the first ever fight card promoted by Russian MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko – Fight Nights Global 85; held on 22 August 2020 – where Rafael defeated Alan Carlos Silva via headkick KO after just 4 seconds into round 1 .
