BIOGRAPHY

Ilia Topuria is a rising star in the world of mixed martial arts. He currently fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and competes as a bantamweight. Born on April 10, 1998 in Tbilisi, Georgia, Ilia began his combat sports career at an early age when he first started training judo. Eventually branching out into other forms of martial arts such as kickboxing and boxing, Ilia developed into a well-rounded fighter with exceptional ground control. After competing in numerous regional competitions in Georgia, he decided to make the transition to professional MMA competition when he joined the UFC Fight Night: Reyes vs Prochazka card on October 3rd 2020.

Competing under the moniker “Mr Highlight” due to his flashy style of fighting which often results in spectacular knockouts or submissions, Ilia has rapidly become a fan favourite amongst fans both inside and outside of Russia thanks to his exciting performances inside the octagon. With wins over respected opponents such as Youssef Zalal and Timur Valiev earning him praise from coaches and peers alike for their athleticism and technique displayed across multiple disciplines throughout each fight, it’s no wonder why many consider Topuria one of MMA’s most promising prospects today.

At just 23 years old Ilia boasts an impressive record comprised mostly from notable finishes including 8 knockouts that have earned him two Performance Of The Night awards during his time with UFC so far . Currently holding an 11-1 record overall , with all but 1 win coming by either knockout or submission , it’s clear that not only does this Georgian talent possess great technical ability but also possesses devastating power potential making him thus far both extraordinary & unpredictable force inside The Octagon .
