Jai Herbert is a professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight Division. He currently holds a 6-1 MMA record and is ranked #15 in the UFC lightweight rankings.
Herbert was born and raised in London, England. He began training in martial arts at an early age, but it wasn’t until his teenage years that he developed an interest in mixed martial arts after watching some of the greats like Anderson Silva and GSP compete on television. His competitive drive led him to pursue MMA full time, beginning with training under Dave Hillman at UACC gym in Croydon before transitioning to Team Titans based out of East London where he still trains today.
Jai made his professional debut as an amateur fighter just one year later. After winning six consecutive fights as an amateur, Herbert decided it was time to take his career to the next level and make his long-awaited professional debut against Lewis Long back in 2017; which resulted into a first round submission victory for Jai via rear-naked choke submission! This win would go on to earn Jai not only ‘Submission of The Night’ honors from Dana White but also started paving the way for what would become a successful UFC career for him so far!
Since then Herbert has gone 3–0 inside the octagon including wins over John Makdessi & Francisco Trinaldo – both by unanimous decisions – & most recently finishing up 2020 with a knockout win over Marc Diakiese during their main event fight this past December! Not only did this result elevate Jai’s status within UFC’s Lightweight division even further but more significantly gained himself yet another ‘Performance Of The Night’ award from Dana White & Co., making him one of few fighters who have achieved such feat twice already since joining UFC roster only couple years ago!
Outside of fighting, Jai enjoys spending time with friends & family while also indulging into other activities such as football or skateboarding when given opportunity too – something which surely helps keep things fresh outside of grueling hours put into training camps during fight preparations
