BIOGRAPHY

Donald Cerrone, (born March 29, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist and former professional kickboxer currently competing in the welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Formerly competing in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC), he’s one of the most experienced MMA fighters today. He holds notable wins over Edson Barboza, Anthony Pettis and Charles Oliveira among many others. As of May 2020, he holds a record of 36-14-0-1NC with 19 finishes.

Cerrone made his professional MMA debut on February 16th 2006 at Ring Of Fire 26 where he beat Nate Mohr via submission due to strikes. After amassing a 5–0 record before joining WEC, Cerrone stepped up as a featured fighter for their lightweight division. On June 1st 2008 at WEC 35: Condit vs Prater he scored an impressive second round guillotine submission victory over Kenneth Alexander and was awarded Fight of The Night honors for his effort against Alexander.

Throughout his nine years at WEC/UFC Donald “Cowboy” has established himself as one of the top Lightweight contenders putting together an impressive 24 win streak which included multiple bonuses awards such as Knockout Of The Night four times and Fight Of The Night once throughout his career with the organization. His career highlights include beating former interim champion Anthony Pettis via unanimous decision during UFC on Fox 6 back in 2013; submitting Edson Barboza during UFC on Fox 11; defeating Rafael dos Anjos by UD during UFCFightNight27and winning against Rick Story at UFC 202 via headkick KO earning him knockout Of The night bonus award from Dana White . During his time at both organizations Cowboy collected total six Performance Of The Night awards along with numerous Fight OftheNight/SubmissionoftheNight awards as well .
Throughout his entire career Cowboy has always been known to be very respectful inside out outside octagon creating such good reputation that allowed him to become ambassador for various brands like Royal Purple , Reebok etc.. In 2018 Donald got inducted into history books becoming first everfighter who earned twenty performance bonuses totaling $4 million dollars . This amazing achievement earnedhim Performance FighterOfthe Year Award from Sports Illustrated magazine .
