Darren Till is an English professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), and is a former welterweight world champion. Born in Liverpool, England on 24 December 1992, Darren grew up between the ages of five and nine in Brazil before returning to Merseyside, where he attended secondary school until the age of 16.
After starting his career as a street fighter at 18 years old, Darren’s passion for combat sports led him to compete professionally following advice from his coach Colin Heron. He made his debut for Cage Warriors Fighting Championships (CWFC) at CWFC 57 on 29 September 2012 and competed four times for them before joining the UFC in 2015 after winning three consecutive bouts with first-round stoppages.
His UFC career got off to a flying start when he made his promotional debut against Wendell de Oliveira Marques at UFC Fight Night: Jędrzejczyk vs Penne on 20 June 2015; winning by unanimous decision after three rounds. Following this impressive performance, he then went onto face Nicolas Dalby at UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs Story six months later where he won by split decision after another competitive encounter over three rounds.
By 2017 Darren was ranked #15th overall amongst all welterweights competing within the promotion and had amassed an undefeated record inside of it; leading him to fight Donald Cerrone for a chance at becoming a world contender back in October that same year. After defeating Cerrone via TKO just two minutes into round one there was no looking back as himself began his journey towards championship gold soon afterwards when he faced Stephen Thompson for an interim title shot which ended with Till losing via majority decision even though many felt it should have gone either way or been declared a draw given how close it was throughout all five rounds – nevertheless this didn’t discourage him from continuing forward en route towards achieving more success down line ahead…
In 2018 Darren took part in what would eventually become one of most memorable fights ever seen when squared off against reigning champion Tyron Woodley during their co-headlining bout set take place during International Fight Week that July – ultimately emerging victorious over four excitingly contested rounds which earned both men ‘Fight Of The Year’ honours come end year awards season due its sheer spectacle & excitement levels generated throughout entire affair!
