BIOGRAPHY

Cody Garbrandt is a professional mixed martial artist who has competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship since 2016. He is widely known for his impressive knockout power and exceptional ground game, making him one of the most complete fighters in the sport. Born on July 7th, 1991 in Uhrichsville, Ohio to father Robert and mother Janet Garbrandt, Cody grew up with an interest for sports from a young age. As a youth he excelled at football, wrestling, and boxing; earning multiple state championships along the way.

Garbrandt would finally make his transition into MMA at just 17 years of age when he joined Marcus Marinelli’s Team Alpha Male Gym — where he would stay until joining Urijah Faber’s Elevation Fight Team in 2019. During this time period Garbrandt slowly worked his way up through regional promotions such as King Of The Cage (KOTC), before eventually signing with UFC & making his debut against Marcus Brimage on August 8th 2015 — which resulted in a spectacular decision victory for Cody that earned him both ‘Fight Of The Night’ & ‘Performance Of The Night’ honors.

After continuing to set records by winning three straight fights inside the octagon—the fastest win streak amongst bantamweights during this stretch—Garbrandt was granted an opportunity to fight for UFC gold when he squared off against Dominick Cruz on December 30th 2016; resulting in Cody becoming only the 9th person ever to become undisputed Bantamweight champion after taking home a unanimous decision victory over Cruz . This feat established Cody as one of MMA’s top stars since then and led to many memorable showdowns with some of UFC’s best including TJ Dillashaw , Raphael Assuncao , Pedro Munhoz & Marlon Moraes . Sadly though due to injuries & lacklustre performances lately Garbrandt hasn’t been able too find much success recently but there is no doubt that given enough time we could see him rise back up again as an elite fighter once more; especially if supported by fans around the world like they did before!
