BIOGRAPHY

Kai Kara-France is a mixed martial artist, competing in the flyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His professional career began in 2014 and he has since established himself as one of the top fighters in his weight class. In 2021, Kai made history when he became the first New Zealand-born athlete to win an UFC title fight.

Born on October 5th, 1992 in Auckland, New Zealand, Kai Kara-France started off his early life playing rugby union for local teams before making a switch to MMA at age 16. After an impressive amateur career that featured 15 wins and just 2 losses, he transitioned into the professional ranks and quickly gained notoriety for his dynamic striking style and strong grappling abilities. He also developed close relationships with several legendary figures from Australia’s MMA scene including former champion Soa Palelei who taught him kickboxing techniques; Robert Whittaker who helped sharpen up his ground game; and Australian Top Team trainer Brad Riddell who remains one of Kai’s coaches today.

Kai debuted professionally on June 21st 2014 with a unanimous decision victory over Jeremy Kennedy at XFC 26: Victory Day in Brisbane, Australia – marking the start of what would become an incredible journey through multiple promotions across two countries including Cage Warriors FC (UK) & Legend Fighting Championships (China). During this period he amassed 12 victories while facing some of the toughest opponents available on both sides including winning fights against future UFC main carders Mark Abelardo & Shana Dobson respectively via TKO/KO stoppage & split decision by judges’ scorecards after three rounds!

In 2017 he signed with Warrior Fight Series which provided him much needed exposure back home as well as abroad – resulting from their partnership agreement with UFC Fight Pass streaming service platform allowing international viewers access to every event broadcasted live online! This gave way for further opportunities such as being invited down under by City Kickboxing gym where current Flyweight/Bantamweight kingpin Israel Adesanya trains alongside other champions like Alexander Volkanovski or Dan Hooker amongst others… From there it wasn’t long before ‘The Last Samurai’ got picked up by The Ultimate Fighting Championship organisation which eventually led towards signing official contracts after numerous bouts inside octagon cages worldwide culminating most recently against Brandon Moreno during November 2020’s ‘UFC 256′ PPV event held Las Vegas Nevada USA!

Winning this fight earned him not only another victory but also ‘Fight Of The Night’ bonus award plus extra points towards upcoming feather weight rankings should decide pursue further advancement within competitive fighting world… Overall so far has won 20 matches out 28 while suffering single defeat throughout entire career thus far – proving himself resilient athlete capable achieving high levels success no matter how tough challenge may appear be – always pushing forward strive best possible performance either solo or part team effort alongside coaching staff support system behind each training camp preparation leading big nights like these!
