BIOGRAPHY

Thomas Almeida is a professional mixed martial artist who competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s bantamweight division. He was born on August 31, 1990 in Santa Cruz do Sul, Brazil. Almeida began his martial arts training when he was just six years old and immediately excelled at it. Over time, he became an accomplished Muay Thai practitioner as well as a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

Almeida made his professional MMA debut in 2010 and quickly established himself as one of the top prospects in Brazil’s featherweight division. Following three straight first round knockout victories, he signed to compete with Jungle Fight and won the promotion’s featherweight title with a first round knockout of Rafael Dias at Jungle Fight 24: Apocalypse on June 9th 2012. His success earned him a spot on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2 where he advanced to the finals before losing by decision to Rony Jason at UFC 147 in June 2012.

In 2013, Almeida moved up to bantamweight and challenged Will Campuzano for the Legacy FC Bantamweight Champion but lost by split decision after an exciting back-and-forth battle that earned both fighters “Fight Of The Night” honors from UFC president Dana White . Despite that setback, Thomas continued competing and won five consecutive bouts leading into UFC 189 which included four finishes (3 T/KO). At UFC 189 Thomas faced Brad Pickett who had almost 30 fights more than him but showed no fear against his experienced veteran opponent dominating him until winning via TKO late into Round 1 earning another “Performance Of The Night” award from Dana White again proving why many believed Almeida had what it takes to be successful inside of Octagon .

Since then Thomas has competed seven times inside octagon all ending up with great performances topping off with second round TKO victory over Anthony Birchak early 2020 at VEGAS 19 earning yet another “Performance Of The Night Award”. Currently still riding win streak since 2015 , Almedia looks forward getting back into cage soon hopefully even this year!
