BIOGRAPHY

Derrick Lewis is a professional UFC fighter who currently competes in the Heavyweight division. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 7th, 1985 and has been actively competing since 2010. Lewis competed during his amateur years in local tournaments throughout Louisiana before joining the Cage Fury Fighting Championships promotion in 2011. He quickly gained attention after winning his first four professional bouts.

In 2012, Lewis signed with Strikeforce and made his official pro debut at their event “Strikeforce Challengers 17” against Nick Rossborough where he won by knockout just one minute into the first round. During this time he earned a record of 3-2 while fighting under Strikeforce before they were purchased by Zuffa LLC (parent company of UFC). Following that purchase, all fighters were brought over to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) which gave Derrick an incredible opportunity for him to compete alongside some of the best MMA fighters in the world.

Since joining UFC, Derrick has continued to gain recognition within MMA circles as one of its most powerful strikers due to his devastating punching power combined with his great size and strength being 6’3″ tall weighing around 250lbs or so; making him one of UFC’s tallest heavyweights . As expected from such a large athlete he is well known for having ended many fights via KO/TKO victories due to these powerful strikes which have earned him multiple post-fight bonuses from UFC itself along with numerous performance awards including ‘Performance Of The Night’ honors on two separate occasions during 2016 alone showcasing how impressive he truly can be when stepping inside that octagon cage! Aside from setting records within MMA circles however Derrick also holds another distinction – being only 1 out 5 athletes ever inducted into the Guinness World Records book for “Most consecutive knockouts” as part 6 wins came by way KO/TKO without rest between them which further highlights just how deadly this man can be when given an opponent inside that Octagon Cage!

Currently Derrick holds an outstanding 15-3 record within UFC while accumulating 18 wins and 5 losses overall including various performance awards & post-fights bonuses indicative of both skill and dominance over opponents inside those eight walls proving why he continues to remain competitive despite being active since 2010!
