BIOGRAPHY
Curtis Blaydes is a heavyweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter currently signed to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born and raised in Chicago, Blaydes began his MMA career in 2013 with his first amateur bout. After racking up several amateur wins, he made his professional MMA debut at the XFO 46 event held at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Since then, Blaydes has gone on to establish himself as one of the most successful heavyweights within UFC.
Blaydes quickly rose through the ranks of his division and soon captured an impressive winning streak that saw him secure nine victories in just over seven months – with five consecutive finishes by way of knockout or submission. Following this incredible run of form, he was offered a spot on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWS), which is considered UFC’s proving ground for young fighters wanting to break into their roster proper. Although he lost during this series contest against fellow heavyweight Azunna Anyanwu via split decision; Dana White was impressed enough with Blaydes’ performance that he offered him a six-fight contract anyway – ultimately leading to Blaydes joining UFC full-time as part of their heavyweight division roster.
Since making it onto the main stage back in 2017, Curtis has had 13 fights under UFC banner and boasts an impressive 11 wins along with only two losses and no draws thus far – both these losses were via judges’ decision rather than stoppage so it’s clear from those results alone that although not quite reaching championship level yet; Curtis possesses real talent within MMA circles today. He also holds notable victories over well-known heavyweights such as Alistair Overeem whom was famously knocked out by Curtis during 2017 fight night held at Rotterdam Ahoy arena Holland ; as well other big names like Alexander Volkov & Shamil Abdurakhimov who both fell victim to significant strikes before eventually succumbing defeat vs Curtis .
Menacingly powerful yet humble outside of competition; off duty you can often find curtis either giving back “offering hands on training experience” within low income inner city gyms or simply enjoying time spent hanging out with friends & family members alike . A highly respected member among fellow athletes who enjoy learning from each other , advice given by curtis usually centers around mastering ones craft along side good nutrition habits – something which has certainly served him well all throughout his own fighting career thus far .
