BIOGRAPHY

Alistair Overeem is a renowned mixed martial artist. He has been competing in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since 2016 and is currently a heavyweight champion. He was born on May 17, 1980 in Hounslow, England to Dutch parents. His family then relocated to Netherlands when he was three years old.

From an early age, Alistair had an interest in martial arts and began training kickboxing at the age of 15 under Cees de Jong at Jaap Visser’s gym in Utrecht. During his teenage years he competed regularly as an amateur fighter before making his professional debut for the Rings promotion at 18 years old against Remco Pardoel on May 28th 1998 which he won by majority decision earning him his first world title belt just two months after turning professional.

Throughout his career, Alistair has amassed victories over some of the biggest names in MMA such as Mark Hunt, Antonio Silva, Fabricio Werdum and Vitor Belfort among others; this makes him one of the most experienced fighters not just within UFC but across all other promotions too especially considering that prior to joining UFC back in 2011; seven out of eight fights were held outside its cage walls – with five wins coming through knockouts or technical knock-outs (TKOs).

In December 2011 Overeem signed with Strikeforce and went on to win their heavyweight championship by defeating Fabricio Werdum via unanimous decision 5 months later making it second major world title for him within 13 year span alongside numerous regional titles such as Cage Warriors World Heavyweight Championship which he won from Paul Buentello over nine years ago (November 2004). Following these accomplishments it seemed only logical that UFC would come calling eventually after adding former Strikeforce champions like Nick Diaz or Dan Henderson so eventually they did do exactly that during summer 2012 giving us first opportunity see what “The Demolition Man” could bring into octagon against top competition like Junior dos Santos whom today holds multiple records amongst current crop of active heavyweights including longest streak undisputed reign ever achieved within weight class since inception – thus far being held steady since November 2015 when JDS defeated Stipe Miocic become unified champion while simultaneously ending Overeem’s chance becoming second man ever hold both UFC & Strikeforce belts simultaneously due unfortunate timing circumstances surrounding change ownership latter promotion league around time contract negotiations between parties began taking place .
Since joining ranks ultimate fighting championship Alistair has gone undefeated except single blip 2017 where lost knockout Alexander Volkov despite being very competitive affair up until point KO occurred meaning overall record stands 16 wins 11 losses 2 draws impressive if you consider fact many those defeats came early stages career prior turn thirty whilst still learning ropes sport; having said all aforementioned still plenty more left tank 33 year old looks set continue dominant run form inside octagon which will no doubt take wherever wants go next whatever path may be …
