Trae Young is an American professional basketball player who currently plays as a point guard for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He grew up in Norman, Oklahoma and attended the University of Oklahoma.

Young began playing basketball at an early age and was named to his first All-State team when he was just 13 years old. He played high school basketball at Norman North High School, where he made three straight appearances in the Elite Eight of the state tournament from 2013 to 2015. During this time, Young also helped Team USA win gold medals at two FIBA U17 World Championships in 2014 and 2015. In 2017, he was selected fifth overall by Atlanta in the 2018 NBA Draft after one year with Oklahoma.

Young quickly established himself as one of the best young players in the league that season, averaging 19 points per game on 39 percent shooting from three along with eight assists per contest. He set several rookie records including most 3-pointers made by a rookie (184) and highest scoring average for rookies aged 20 or younger (19 ppg). His standout performances earned him Rookie of The Year honours alongside Luka Doncic – making them only second teammates ever to do so simultaneously. Following his successful debut season, Trae took another leap forward during his sophomore campaign with averages of 29 points and 9 assists per game on 42 percent shooting from behind arc which propelled him into All Star status for the first time in 2020; becoming youngest starter since Kobe Bryant back in 1998 All Star Game.

Off court Trae has become popular among fans due to his personable character evidenced through various social media platforms such as Twitch & TikTok while constantly giving back to local communities through charitable donations throughout Georgia & Oklahoman areas – specifically focusing on underprivileged youth education initiatives . As well being involved within business having brand deals with companies such as Nike , Phone program “Callup” & various gaming organisations such as Microsoft Xbox & FaZe Clan .

Overall it’s safe say that given how young Trae is still yet plenty more expectations will be placed upon him moving forwards ; however if recent history serves any indication – it’s likely that anything thrown his way will be overcome with ease .
