BIOGRAPHY

Darren Elkins is a professional mixed martial arts fighter, currently competing in the Featherweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He began his career in 2009 and has been a top contender in the UFC since 2012.

Elkins was born on October 22, 1984, in Beech Grove, Indiana. He graduated from Beech Grove High School where he took an interest in wrestling and football as part of their athletics program. After high school he pursued an amateur MMA career with local promotions before eventually transitioning to professional fights with Bellator MMA and later Strikeforce.

In 2012, Elkins signed with UFC when Strikeforce merged into them after two successful bouts outside of promotion that year. Since then he has gone 12–5 over his seven-year tenure with the promotion including four performance bonuses throughout his career highlights that have earned him praise both inside and outside of the fight game as well as being ranked as one of the best featherweights by various outlets such as Fight Matrix at #10 out of 681 fighters across multiple weight classes worldwide (as per July 2019).
