Tyron Billy-Johnson, born on January 8, 1996, is a renowned American professional football player, best known for his skills as a wide receiver. Commonly known as a powerful and speedy runner, Johnson’s journey spans numerous games, teams, and victories. Currently, he stands as a free agent, showcasing the fancies of a rich career in professional football.

Greatness struck Johnson early. His best performance in high school football, during his senior year, was a dazzling display of his talent. With 94 receptions, 1,589 yards, and an incredible 17 touchdowns, he commanded attention. His education at Warren Easton High School in New Orleans, Louisiana, didn’t fall behind either. Johnson was an All-American and a top receiver recruit at some of the country’s best college football programs.

Johnson’s first taste of college football was at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he was initially signed in 2015. However, it was his sophomore and junior years at Oklahoma State University (OSU) that became the bedrock of his college football career. His academic prowess stood parallel with his athletic abilities, earning him the Academic All-Big Twelve in both years. By the end of his tenure at OSU, Johnson had locked in a total of 80 catches and 1,288 yards over 26 games.

Johnson’s Pro Day performance was equally remarkable. Catching passes from Cornelius, he posted a top 40-yard dash of 4.34. His final year at OSU as a junior came with the opportunity to play alongside quarterback Taylor Cornelius. Together, the duo dominated the field with Johnson receiving 53 passes for 845 yards and securing seven touchdowns.

Following his glorious journey in college football, Johnson decided to undertake the big take. Post his junior year at OSU, he entered the draft. His professional career kick-started on April 27, 2019, when he signed a contract with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent. Unfortunately, his stint with the Texans was short-lived, and he was waived on August 31, 2019. After numerous signings and releases from squads such as the Buffalo Bills, the Carolina Panthers, and back to Texans, Johnson was signed to the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad on December 3, 2019. By the end of the month, he signed a futures contract with the Chargers.

Throughout 2020, Johnson faced several swings in his career. Starting with being waived by the Chargers and then signed back to the practice squad, Johnson went on to clinch his first career reception during a week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here, he recorded a stunning 53-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Justin Herbert. By the season’s end, he had scored 20 receptions across 12 games and three touchdowns against the Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and Las Vegas Raiders.

In 2021, Johnson had to leave the Chargers but soon found a new home with the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he only played five games and had a single reception before being waived. By late 2021, he had signed with the Raiders’ practice squad and entered the active roster in January 2022, before being released and re-signed on multiple occasions.

Following a short stint with the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad, Johnson signed a reserve/future contract with the San Francisco 49ers in February 2023. However, he was waived within months. On June 5, 2023, Johnson signed with the Dallas Cowboys only to face dismissal yet again leading to a few more signings and releases.
