Blake Martinez Bio
Blake Edmon Martinez, born January 9, 1994, in Tucson, Arizona, is an inside linebacker listed at 6 feet 2 inches and 237 pounds. He attended Canyon del Oro High School in Oro Valley, Arizona, before playing college football at Stanford. Martinez developed into a defensive leader for the Cardinal and earned first-team All-Pac-12 recognition, along with multiple All-America honors, following his senior season in 2015.
The Green Bay Packers selected Martinez in the fourth round with the 131st overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. Known as a reliable, high-effort tackler, he became a regular presence in the middle of Green Bay’s defense. Martinez joined the New York Giants as a free agent in March 2020 and remained with the organization until his release on September 1, 2022. He subsequently played for the Las Vegas Raiders and announced his retirement in November 2022.
Martinez resumed his NFL career in November 2023, first joining the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad and then signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ active roster on November 22. Pittsburgh later identified him as a player eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on March 13, 2024. That Steelers stint is his most recent officially documented NFL affiliation; no current team employment is asserted as of October 2, 2026.
