Alex Bars

Alex Bars, born on September 8, 1995, is a dynamic and formidable player in the world of American football. One of his primary roles has been that of an offensive guard. Although he is currently a free agent, his impressive career trajectory and talent have helped him stand out in the competitive landscape of National Football League (NFL).

Hailing from an academic and athletic career at Notre Dame, Bars has showcased significant growth and dedication. His journey began as a young college football player where he was part of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Despite starting his first year on the scout team, Bars proved his mettle by playing in six games with two starts during his sophomore year.

Later in his junior year, he accomplished the feat of starting all 12 of Notre Dame’s games as a right tackle. His senior year saw him playing all 13 games as a left guard. Despite his rising streak in Notre Dame, Bars faced a serious challenge when he tore his MCL and ACL five games into the season against Stanford, while playing his fifth season as a graduate student.

Bars made a memorable impact throughout his college career, playing in 36 games with 32 starts. This rough and tumble journey laid the foundation of perseverance and dedication that Bars carried forward into his professional career with the NFL.

On May 2, 2019, Bars was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Chicago Bears, a team associated with the NFL. Unfortunately, he was waived at the end of the training camp during final roster cuts. However, proving his resilience, Bars returned to the team’s practice squad on September 1, 2019.

Bars’ moment of ascendancy unfolded on October 15, 2019, when the Bears promoted him to the active roster. He made his much-anticipated NFL debut on November 28, 2019, in a game against the Detroit Lions, and played five games in his rookie season.

A landmark event in Bars’ career occurred on November 8, 2020, where he made his first career start in a game against the Tennessee Titans. Despite never having played the center position before, he lined up at center, playing all 77 of the Bears’ offensive snaps.

His hard work paid off as he played in all 16 regular season games and started the last eight with different starting positions. Recognizing his commitment and passion for the sport, the team extended his contract on March 3, 2021.

However, the journey wasn’t always smooth for Bars. On March 27, 2022, he signed a one-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders but was waived on August 30, 2022. After a week, on September 6, 2022, he returned to the practice squad.

His journey with the Raiders witnessed a notable milestone when he was elevated to the active roster on multiple occasions. First on September 17, 2022, for a game against the Arizona Cardinals and second, on September 24, 2022, against the Tennessee Titans. Despite being reverted to the practice squad each time, Bars proved his worth by getting signed back to the active roster on October 1, 2022.

Persisting forward, Bars re-signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on March 30, 2023. However, in a surprising turn of events, Bars was released by the Raiders on August 29.
