Jakobi Meyers is a professional American football wide receiver who currently plays for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on July 3, 1997 in Decatur, Georgia and grew up with his parents and two siblings. He attended Sprayberry High School where he played football as well as basketball. In college, he joined North Carolina State University where he would later become a standout performer on the field.

Meyers first caught attention when he was named to numerous All-ACC teams and several All-American teams during his time at NC State. His impressive performance earned him an invitation to participate in the 2019 NFL scouting combine, which only further increased buzz surrounding him leading up to draft day. On April 27th, 2019 Meyers was drafted by the New England Patriots in round three with pick number 77 overall.

Meyers’ rookie season began slowly but ended stronger after being placed into more significant roles within the team’s offense following injuries to other receivers such as Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry throughout their 2019 campaign. Although primarily utilized as a slot receiver early on, Jakobi finished strong with 26 receptions for 359 receiving yards over his final four games of that season – including becoming just one of five rookies since 2005 to have more than 100 receiving yards in back-to-back games against Cincinnati Bengals (105) & Miami Dolphins (107).

The 2020 season saw Meyers make huge strides towards becoming an important asset within New England’s offense due largely in part to him finding much success alongside emerging star quarterback Cam Newton – recording 59 catches for 729 receiving yards along 4 touchdowns through 14 regular season games that year while being targeted frequently by Newton during those matchups; this ultimately helped propel Jakobi onto many lists both locally & nationally amongst some of top NFL receivers entering 2021– including one from Pro Football Focus that labeled him “One Of The Best Slot Receivers In The Game” heading into this new campaign .

Furthermore , Jakobi has also been heavily involved within various charitable initiatives over recent years ; such efforts include working closely with Animal Rescue Rhode Island , partnering with One Mission Buzz Off Cancer annually since 2018 , and supporting Boston Children’s Hospital by donating proceeds from sales made through his own clothing line .

Through all these accomplishments & endeavors throughout both school & now professional career thus far – it is clear why Jakobi Meyers has become so beloved by fans nationwide regardless if they are followers of either New England or even just NFL football at large . With still plenty years left ahead for Jacobi moving forward – there is no doubt what kind bright future may await this young man if continues along current path taken !
