Trent Sieg's Biography

Trent Sieg was born on 19th May 1995 and is renowned in the world of American professional football as the long snapper for the Dallas Cowboys team, in the National Football League (NFL). His journey through varsity sports to the NFL has showcased his immense skills, professional accomplishments, and dedication to the sport.

In his high school years at Eaton High School, as a senior, Sieg significantly contributed to his team obtaining a glorious 10-1 overall record, subsequently winning the Patriot League championship. His performance as a tight end and linebacker was commendable, with impressive statistics such as 29 receptions, 510 receiving yards, and 4 touchdowns. His remarkable defensive contribution included 67 tackles and 10 sacks. One of Sieg’s career highs happened at a game against Valley High School, where he clocked in 6 catches for 168 yards with 2 touchdowns. Hardly surprising that he was honored with the Denver Post’s All-Colorado football honors as a linebacker.

Simultaneously, Sieg also excelled in his academic performance, earning academic All-Colorado honors in the final two years of high school. He was not just limited to football but showcased his talents in baseball and basketball as well.

Transitioning to college, Trent accepted a football scholarship from Colorado State University. He was quickly recognized for his potential when as a redshirt freshman, he replaced the four-year long snapper Tanner Hedstrom. Sieg’s sophomore year had him again demonstrating his expertise by snapping to Hayden Hunt, an All-American punter who finished fifth nationally with a 46.0 yards per punt average. He was rewarded with Academic All-Mountain West Conference honors for his commendable academic performance. His consistency was noted as he played all games in his junior and senior year, earning Academic All-Mountain West honors once again. Throughout his college years, he was recognized for his reliability and skill, with a perfect game-attendance record.

Post the 2018 NFL draft, Trent was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Baltimore Ravens on April 29. The competition for the position was intense, as Sieg contested for the long snapper role against the then-incumbent Morgan Cox. Despite giving it his all, Sieg was waived before the beginning of the season.

Not one to be disheartened, Sieg continued to pursue professional NFL opportunities, and in September the same year, he was signed by the Oakland Raiders. He replaced Andrew DePaola as long snapper who suffered a season-ending knee injury. As a rookie, Sieg helped to play in the last 15 games, contributing to Daniel Carlson setting a new franchise record of a 94.1% field goal percentage.

In 2019, Sieg continued his upward trajectory and was given priority over DePaola for the long-snapping role. With Sieg’s assistance, A. J. Cole III set rookie club records for punt average, net average, and punts within the 20-yard line. The following year, the Raiders made their anticipated move to Las Vegas. On March 27, 2020, Sieg signed the exclusive rights tender. He continued his contributing streak to Carlson’s setting franchise-records 144 points and a 94.3% field goal percentage.

March of 2021 saw Trent Sieg signing a well-deserved three-year contract extension with the Raiders. However, by November 29, 2021, he was unable to continue his streak of 58 straight games due to the impact of the COVID pandemic where he was placed on reserve/COVID-19 list. He was promptly replaced by Carson Tinker. However, by December 9, he made a grand return after being activated off the COVID list.

In 2023, Sieg was released by the Raiders as Jacob Bobenmoyer, took on the long snapper position. However, Sieg’s contribution over five seasons, making five special teams tackles, and only missing two games during his tenure was remembered. On March 22, 2023, the Dallas Cowboys picked up Sieg to replace Jake McQuaide, who left in free agency. His association with the Cowboys was so successful, he re-signed with them on March 12, 2024 – a testament to the valued skills and contribution Sieg brings to his teams.
