Maxx Crosby's Biography

Maxx Robert Crosby was born on August 22, 1997, in Lapeer, Michigan. During his adolescence, he moved to Colleyville, Texas, taking his first steps towards a prosperous football career. His birthweight, a whopping 11 pounds, 9 ounces, inspired the unique spelling of his first name, Maxx. He went on to attend Colleyville Heritage High School in Texas.

Maxx is the proud son of Vera Crosby, who enriched his life with an intriguing mix of Serbian and Albanian roots. His affection for his heritage is reflected in his reply “najbolji smo, najjaci,” meaning “we are the best, [we are] the strongest,” to a query about his Serbian roots on Instagram. Interestingly, both his Serbian national sports teams and their supporters share the nickname Eagles, which Crosby openly identifies with.

Crosby’s tryst with football began in college when he played for the Eastern Michigan Eagles between 2015 and 2018. This was the only college football program that had offered Crosby an opportunity to show his mettle. Going on to prove his worth, Crosby won the First-team All-MAC title in 2017 and 2018. He was later inducted into the school’s Ring of Honor in 2023. A year later, following a generous $1 million donation from Crosby to the program, the playing field at Rynearson Stadium was renamed “Crosby Field”.

In the fourth round of the 2019 NFL draft, Crosby was chosen by the Oakland Raiders, marking the start of his professional career. Crosby established himself in the first week against the Denver Broncos with a resounding 24–16 win, thanks to his skillful maneuvering and six swift tackles. During the 2021 season, Crosby upped his game by setting personal bests, outperforming himself immensely. His efforts culminated in being recognized as a second-team All-Pro edge rusher by the Associated Press. He also earned a $98.98 million contract extension with the Raiders less than a month after celebrating two years of sobriety.

Crosby’s prowess on the field did not dim in the following years, as he continued to receive accolades such as the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week and Pro Bowl honors. Despite facing challenges such as checking into rehab for alcoholism, Crosby persevered, making massive strides in his personal and professional life.

Fanning the flame of love in his personal life, Crosby got engaged to Rachel Washburn in 2022, and they welcomed their first child into the world not long after. One could argue that Crosby’s life was on an upward trajectory as he got married to Washburn in Nevada the following year.
