Mario Goodrich's Biography

Mario Goodrich was born on January 12, 2000 and is an accomplished American professional football player. His position as a cornerback has seen him gain renown in the sport. At present, he holds status as a free agent, a testament to his exceptional performance that makes him a sought-after athlete in the NFL. Growing up in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Goodrich was an athletic child who attended Lee’s Summit West High School. Here, he began to display a natural aptitude for football, showing promise in two crucial positions: cornerback and wide receiver.

Throughout his high school career, Goodrich racked up impressive stats — 140 tackles and 11 interceptions on defense, and 38 receptions for 641 yards on offense, with 22 total touchdowns. These figures painted a vivid picture of Goodrich’s potential, reflecting both his offensive and defensive skills. This talent did not go unnoticed, and he was initially offered a chance to play at the University of Nebraska. However, he ultimately chose to attend Clemson University due to a change of heart.

Arriving at Clemson in 2018 as a true freshman, Goodrich played in 14 games and recorded six tackles. The same year, he tasted the ultimate high of his college career up to that point — a national championship victory with his team. The following year, he played in 13 games and had seven tackles and one interception. He continued to further his craft, managing 13 tackles and two interceptions in only four out of eight started games in 2020.

Goodrich’s senior year in 2021 proved especially memorable. His individual contribution to the team was significant as he recorded 42 tackles, two interceptions, and a touchdown in his 12 starts. His spectacular performance in his final collegiate game at the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl earned him the coveted title of MVP.

In the 2022 NFL draft, he was surprisingly not selected. However, an opportunity soon presented itself. On April 30, the Philadelphia Eagles signed Goodrich as an undrafted free agent. He continued to exhibit his abilities in the new team until he was waived on August 30, 2022. A day later he was signed to the practice squad. On February 15, 2023, Goodrich secured a reserve/future contract with the Eagles.

In a significant move on October 18, 2023, Goodrich was waived again by the Eagles and re-signed to the practice squad. A few months later on January 18, 2024, he signed another reserve/future contract. However, in an unexpected turn of events, he was waived again on July 30.

On July 31, 2024, Goodrich found himself in a new home when he was claimed off waivers by the New York Giants. His career with the Giants was short-lived as he was waived due to injury on August 27.
