Born on November 25, 1992, Arryn Siposs, an Australian professional, has made a significant career pivot from playing Australian rules football for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) to becoming a reputable American football punter. This athletic biography is a comprehensive reflection of Siposs’s journey from Australia to American football arenas.

Siposs’s humble beginnings were in Beaconsfield, where he played in the South East Juniors. It was here that he showed his football prowess, kicking a whopping 99 goals in his under 16s year. His prowess caught the eye of scouts, leading to his selection by St Kilda with the 75th selection in the 2010 AFL draft from the Dandenong Stingrays in the TAC Cup. During his time with the Stingrays, Siposs made an impressive contribution, kicking 34 goals in 2010.

The 2011 AFL season marked the debut of Siposs against Carlton in round 7 where he came to the field in the second half. Despite their loss by three points, Siposs managed to make a notable debut by having four disposals and kicking one goal. Siposs showed his eagerness to compete for the starting punter position behind Aiden Marshall, prior to the start of the 2018 season. Eventually, he was chosen as a backup to Marshall.

However, during a game against the Washington Huskies, it was clear that Siposs’s calls to be on the field were not going unnoticed. Hence, the head coach, Gus Malzahn, decided to make Siposs the starting punter against the Alabama State Hornets.

His determination bore fruit when he signed with the Detroit Lions at the end of the 2020 NFL draft as an undrafted free agent. His journey had its ups and downs, as he was placed on and off the Lions reserve list before signing a reserve/futures contract with the Philadelphia Eagles on 13 January 2021.

Under the Philadelphia Eagles, he made his NFL debut against the Atlanta Falcons on 12 September 2021. During the 2021 season, Siposs recorded 55 punts for 2,416 yards, averaging 43.93. Tragically, during the 2022 season, he injured his ankle, which led him to be placed on injury reserve, but he managed to recover in time to play against the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. He ended the season with 44 punts, totaling 2,005 yards and averaging 45.57.

One could not ignore Siposs’s significant contribution in his debut Super Bowl, in which he punted twice. However, one of his punt attempts went awry, leading his opponents, Kansas City Chiefs, to victory by three points. Despite this unfortunate event, it didn’t mar his standing with the Eagles, although he was later waived and re-signed to the practice Eagles squad in 2023.
