Bryce Huff

Bryce Huff, born on April 17, 1998, is an American football player who operates in the defensive end position for the Philadelphia Eagles, a prominent team in the National Football League (NFL). His journey in the thrilling world of football started right from childhood, shaping him into the resilient player he is today.

Born and raised in Opelika, Alabama, Huff spent much of his early life here before shifting to Mobile, Alabama. He studied at St. Paul’s Episcopal School and displayed a remarkable knack for football. As a senior, Huff put on an exceptional show, achieving first-team All-State recognition after marking 93 tackles and seven sacks. It was a window into the tremendous talent he would nurture and proliferate in his career.

Initially, Huff had committed to play college football at South Alabama. However, a change of heart led him to switch his commitment to Memphis, where he further harnessed his budding abilities. His initial college years saw him mostly playing on special teams, but by his sophomore year, Huff had made his way into the pass rush rotation. He started three times and wrapped up the season with 30 tackles, five tackles for loss and two sacks—a promising start to his journey.

As a junior, Huff’s performance continued on a steady upswing. He closed the season with 49 tackles, leading his team with 9.5 sacks and 19 tackles for loss. His prowess on the field earned him the title of second-team All-American Athletic Conference (AAC). The following season, Huff led the Tigers once again with 6.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss, securing the second-team All-AAC.

Huff’s aspirations of entering the professional league were realized on May 6, 2020. Post the conclusion of the 2020 NFL draft, he was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent, and was a part of the Jets’ initial 53-man roster. His first taste of NFL came on September 27, 2020, against the Indianapolis Colts, where he left an impression by batting down a pass in a 36-17 loss.

In Week 6 against the Miami Dolphins, Huff had an eventful game, marking his first career sack on Ryan Fitzpatrick. The following season in 2021, Huff was elevated to the starting linebacker position for the Jets. He opened the first six games before a back injury forced him to take a break from the game. He eventually made a comeback on December 18 after being placed on injured reserve.

Huff’s journey took a turn during the 2023 offseason when he became a restricted free agent. On March 15, 2023, the Jets placed a second-round tender on him, thus escalating his prospects. An even bigger change came the following year on March 13, 2024, when Huff signed up with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year contract.
