Jayon Brown's Biography

Jayon Lee Brown, one of the significant names in American Football, was born on February 26, 1995. Brown manages to draw attention to himself as an aggressive middle linebacker. Although no team currently claims Brown as their own, several sports enthusiasts might recognize him from his time with the Tennessee Titans.

Born in California, Jayon Lee Brown attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach. Football runs deep in the Brown family – his younger brother Joshua is a linebacker at the University of Arizona, while his two older brothers, Jason and Juwuan, possess a rich history in college football. Jason was a linebacker at Idaho, while Juwuan was a defensive lineman at Southern Oregon.

At UCLA, Brown displayed his determination, passion, and talent for football. He participated in 49 games, starting in 21 of them. Over four seasons at UCLA, he recorded impressive stats, with 220 tackles, three sacks, nine tackles for loss, three interceptions, 15 passes defensed, one forced fumble, and four fumble recoveries. During the final two seasons, he kicked off from starting position in 21 games and recorded nine games with double-digit tackles.

Moving through his four seasons at UCLA, Brown first appeared in 13 games as a Freshman, making six tackles and earning the John Boncheff, Jr. Award for Rookie of the Year on special teams. This spread the first seeds of Brown’s potential. His second year focused on special teams’ action in twelve games, and he earned credit for two tackles. In his third year, Jayon received nine starts in twelve games. He rose as the leading player with 93 tackles and held second place in six passes defensed.

During his senior year, his performance peaked. He played and kick-started 12 games and captured as many as 119 tackles, putting him in the 16th place in UCLA’s all-time, single-season list. In addition to this, he claimed 2.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, three interceptions, 23 passes defensed, and two fumble recoveries that year, earning him the first-team All-Pac-12 Conference recognition. This wasn’t all – he was the first UCLA player with 100 tackles in a season since Eric Kendricks in 2014 and led the Pac-12 with 9.9 total tackles per game securing a ninth position nationwide.

In the spring of 2017, Brown graduated from UCLA with a political science degree. Around the same time, the Tennessee Titans, during 2017´s NFL draft’s fifth round, drafted him. Hence his professional career began.

In May 2017, Brown signed a 4-year contract with the Titans for $2.67 million, including a signing bonus of $271,553. The start of his career was a humble one as he served as a backup inside linebacker. This role put him behind starters Wesley Woodyard and Avery Williamson. Nevertheless, he proved his mettle in his very first NFL debut, contributing significantly to the Titans’ 16–26 loss against the Oakland Raiders with four combined tackles.

Brown’s career took a stride into success when, in 2018, he earned his first NFL start. He also marked the first sack of his career, and by 2019, he recorded his first interception. In Week 4 against the Atlanta Falcons, he showed his developing skill by recording his first sack of the season on Matt Ryan.

Unfortunately, 2020 was a tough year for Brown: he suffered a dislocated and fractured elbow and was thus designated on the season-ending injured reserve. However, he recovered soon and re-signed with the Titans for a one-year contract. Even though he faced a brief setback with a knee injury, he bounced back and was activated to the team again.

Brown signed a one-year contract on March 24, 2022, with the Las Vegas Raiders, marking a new journey in his career. Much to the disappointment of his fans, he suffered an injury and was placed on injured reserve on December 13, 2022. Regardless of the troubles he’s faced, Brown remains one of the most recognized linebackers in American football.

Away from football, Jayon enjoys spending quality time with his dogs, a mutt named Lou and a Rottweiler named Kali, and indulging in puzzles and movies. An accomplished football player, Brown’s passion, and dedication to the sport is unmissable, and his contribution to the NFL is undeniable.
