Chandler James Jones, known to most as Chandler Jones, is an American professional football player born on February 27, 1990. At birth, Jones had no idea just what life would have in store for him. From a young age, he showed an astounding aptitude for sport, particularly football. Jones was born in Rochester, New York to parents Arthur Jr. and Camille Jones. This small city would become the stepping stone for a journey into a wild and fulfilling career.

During his early years, Jones attended Union-Endicott High School, where his talents as a football player started to blossom. His hard work and dedication led to his selection as a 2007 SuperPrep All-Northeast and PrepStar All-East Region player, an achievement that was indicative of his future successes. Scout.com even ranked him as New York’s eighth-best high school prospect, turning plenty of heads in the college football recruitment scene.

Jones went on to attend Syracuse University from 2008 to 2011 for college. Unlike most first-year players who usually spend a couple of years on the bench, Chandler was drafted into 12 games as a sophomore. He recorded 52 combined tackles and 1.5 sacks. His numbers continued trending in the right direction in his junior year, earning an All-Big East selection despite playing in only seven games due to an injury. He finished his senior year with 39 tackles and 4.5 sacks.

After four years of education and strong performances, Jones declared his intention to enter the 2012 NFL Draft. However, this decision came with a price — he left the university just one class short of graduating. Nonetheless, later on, in 2020, he returned and completed his degree at Syracuse University, graduating with a Bachelor’s in child and family studies.

As one of the best defensive end prospects for the 2012 NFL draft, Jones was selected in the first round with the 21st overall pick by the New England Patriots. It was here that Jones finally made his way into professional football. He quickly rose through the ranks and took up the starting right defensive end position during the 2012 season. His career took a new turn in Arizona, where he started all 16 games and delivered an impressive stat line of 49 tackles, 11 sacks, three passes defensed, and four forced fumbles.

With a renewed contract worth $82.5 million in 2017, his performance earned him Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. He ended the season leading the league with 17.0 sacks and setting a new Cardinals franchise record. In the coming years, he moved to different positions, delivering fantastic performances and setting career-highs in key metrics.

However, the 2020 season saw him suffer a severe setback, as he went through a torn bicep, which sidelined him for the rest of the season. Displaying great determination, Jones returned in full form for the 2021 season, demonstrating his value and earning a place in the Pro Bowl once again.

In 2022, Jones made another career move, signing a three-year, $51 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders. But his stint with them was not without hitches; he faced multiple issues, both on-field due to injuries and off-field because of disagreements with the management and some legal troubles.
